Confidence is a much talked about topic, everybody wants it and are often judged on whether we are perceived to have it or not. Right or wrong, this is how the world of school and work can be, so something we all want for our kids is confidence. For this reason to help you and your child we have put together a Confident Kids workshop for this summer.

If you see that your child may benefit from feeling more comfortable with him/herself in social situations or better able to freely express themselves in a way that's right for them, then this course could be perfect for your child.

As the course is run over the last two weeks of August time is now limited for you to secure a place. Why meditate

Meditation has become well known for it's health benefits, but you may ask what exactly are these reasons and why dedicate regular time to doing it;

Having been one of these children myself at school because of growing up with a disability I understand fully what its like and how painful it can be. This summer myself and colleagues will be putting together a two week fun packed workshop in West London ready for your child to return to school bouncing with confidence!

No matter what the previous challenges may be we can guarantee that your child will come out on top with more confidence than ever before.

The groups will be held for all children aged 7- 13 run  by fully qualified coaches, therapists and play-workers, we cater for children of all abilities and also specialise in helping children with either physical or learning difficulties. The following is my tribute to Muhammad Ali , for such an inspiring example of a champion of great heart and life it is hard to do him justice, but from my heart this is how I see him.

I fell in love with the essence of Muhammad Ali several years ago after reading his book The Soul of a butterfly  . I found this book gave me a far deeper insight in to Muhammad Ali and the depth of his soul and life purpose. It contains much of his own personal insights and experiences as well as some of his poetry, it's one I highly recommend reading.

He truly was an amazing person who lived from the heart in all that he did, right to the end.

10 Reasons Muhammad Ali was the Greatest.

I am the greatest

  1. He knew he could create his own path - It is well known how Muhammad Ali could often predict the outcome of his fights in the form of his poetry and witty quotes. This is truly astounding and a great example of the power of belief.
  2. He lived from the heart - Above all what stands out for me about Muhammad Ali was his love for god and people. He would put this first because he knew its profound importance and truth in relevance to what is material.
  3. He fought with purpose - Muhammad Ali fought with great purpose,  he knew he had to become successful so that people would listen to what he had to say and so he fought his way to the top where people would listen.
  4. He fought for equality - Growing up in a time where racism in America was extreme and the slave trade was not that far behind him fighting just to be treated fairly was a daily battle and one in which it seemed hard to see an end. Reading Muhammad Ali's accounts of some of the racism he experienced it is heart wrenching and shocking  to hear how people were treated based on skin colour not that long ago. Muhammad Ali being the greatest champion he was, fought all this with the greatest composure and purpose I have ever heard of, truly admirable.
  5. He always admitted his own mistakes and forgave others - A mark of a truly great and spiritually driven person is the ability to do this. To see beyond the surface and understand that we all make mistakes and be able to forgive both ourselves and others for this. His ability to see in this way he puts down to his faith, where he always knew that the truly great is god and in that he is the only judge.
  6. He wouldn't compromise on his values - Because of his strong faith and values this took precedence in his life and he would not compromise them for anything, even his boxing title and career. When asked to fight in war he refused based on his beliefs and values risking even being sent to prison, he was then stripped of his title and boxing career for some time.
  7. He knew success was based on the ability to rise after falling - Muhammad Ali knew that success wasn't just based on titles and fame but on what your represent as a person and on the ability to rise after falling. This shows his true strength of character and determination.
  8. He had great perseverance - Another of his most admirable traits was that of his great perseverance, Muhammad Ali was able to fight for what he believed in overcoming all obstacles in his way, not only that but then using those obstacles to demonstrate his truth and purpose even more.
  9. He used his success for the advantage of all - Believing so strongly in equal rights and understanding the power of being in a successful position, Muhammad Ali knew that being successful was the greatest way for people to listen to what he had to say and so he made it happen!
  10. His power of Faith- Basing his life on his faith Muhammad Ali understood it's true power. Living from this place he was able to triumph over all obstacles with the greatest spirit and heart.

10 Ways to overcome depression

How can we overcome depression , a condition that is becoming increasingly more common within our society? As much as 1 in 5 people becoming depressed at some point in their lives.  Given this how can we manage better and overcome depression if it does happen to us or a loved one?

Being in this situation can often feel helpless and overcoming the associated inertia is part of the struggle to begin with but with the right help and support it can be done.

Having been there myself and helped others through it, today  I can share with you 10 ways to overcome depression, ways that are more holistic in nature and that will help you gain the control back within your life that is so often missing in times when depression strikes.

These are by no means the only ways but ways that within both my personal and professional experience I have found most effective.

  1. Be around others - When feeling depressed it is easy to hide away and want to be alone, however being with other people in these times is one of the best things we can do because it diverts our mind from those thought patterns that may be causing the depression.
  2. Do what you love to do -Think of something you love doing and make specific time to do it, this is then your time and doing what you love to do will allow you to completely let go of anything that is on your mind. When you're completely absorbed in an activity it can be very powerful and have an almost transformative effect on your emotional state.
  3. Exercise regularly - It's well known that exercising releases endorphins (the body's feel good hormones),  by exercising regularly you can make this a habitual pattern, so releasing feel good hormones now becomes a more primary state for you. This of course is just one of the many benefits.
  4. Get out in to nature -Being in nature can have a very purifying and relaxing effect on us, it puts us in to our natural state of relaxation and allows us to connect with our true selves.
  5. Be in a routine- Having a routine helps for our metabolism to function effectively which is an important part of maintaining a stable mood level. This fundamentally includes important components of daily living such as eating and sleeping routines.
  6. Drink plenty of water - Being dehydrated can have more devastating effects on the body than many of us are aware of. The simple act of drinking water more regularly can have powerful effects for your health in both mind and body which are both interlinked.
  7. Relaxation/Meditation - Take time out daily for yourself to do either a relaxation or meditation practice, doing this allows for you to experience the natural state of inner peace and clear your mind of any thoughts that may disturb this state of being.
  8. Focus on the positive - surround yourself with positive focus points and with things and people who lift you up, doing this over time changes your predominant focus to that of the positive, making this more important.
  9. Express yourself effectively -  Having said to focus on the positive, this is important however not to the detriment of being honest with yourself in a healthy way. When we bottle up feelings this can also cause depression so whatever you are feeling be with it honestly, then you are able to let it go and continue being true to who you are freely.
  10. Love and accept yourself - This actually the most important of all and fundamental to all the above.  If you were to do only one I would say do this because you of all people deserve your complete love and acceptance. No matter where your life's path has taken you so far this is your birth-right, never deny it to yourself. Love yourself completely.

If you have never heard of NLP you may wonder what exactly it is and how it can help you and even if you have heard of it you may have heard some contradictory or even negative ideas. This post will give you some more understanding as to what NLP actually is and how it may help you.

The name NLP is an abbreviation for Neuro Linguistic Programming, this Neuro meaning  mind or brain and how we think, Linguistic - for  how we use our language both internally and externaly and programming for how we program our minds to be at our most effective, some would also refer to this as conditioning or re-patterning of our thoughts feelings and habits.

Staying Inspired and Motivated

How do you stay inspired and motivated to achieve your goals, is this something you find relatively easy or hard to do?

I would love to hear some of your own experiences and feed back on this. Some people we know may appear to be super motivated and never lose their passion. However most of us may go through some ups and downs no matter how important the goal may be.

So how do we maintain our focus and stay motivated and inspired?

Here are my 5 top tips;

  1. Know your outcome - When you know your outcome and stay focused on it so long as this is aligned well with your values it will pull you forward and enable you to overcome anything that gets in your way.
  2. Set up short term goal posts - If your goal is quiet big then it can appear overwhelming to achieve, particularly in the beginning, a good way to overcome this is to set up short term goal posts such as weekly,monthly and quarterly targets that you'd like to achieve. By doing this your goal becomes far easier to achieve as you build on each small goal.
  3. Surround yourself with the right people - Jim Rohn stated, you are the average of the 5 people you spend the most time with, and the reason for this because of the power of influence. Those we are around consistently influence us and this can be either positively or negatively. To stay motivated and inspired, surround yourself with people who motivate and inspire you.
  4. Read motivational and inspirational material aligned with your goal- Reading material that supports your goal helps you to stay on track by giving you great ideas, as well as inspiring and motivating you to continue on your journey towards your goals.
  5. Have a great coach/ mentor - Having a great coach/mentor is the single best way to stay  motivated and inspired. This is because a coach can see those blind spots and because of this is able to push you in those areas that you may have otherwise missed or avoided, therefore limiting your progress. A coach is also there to offer you all the encouragement and inspiration you may need so you will never become stuck.

Chronic stress and its effect on your health

 In todays fast paced world where so much emphasis is placed on achieving and getting things done that one of the most important things can often suffer, that of our health. How to use your mind to improve your health


Your mind is one of the most powerful resources you have to improve your health, although we are often taught to focus purely on the physical; to exercise more, eat healthier and so on.

This is not to say the  physical elements are not of importance, but that our minds are in fact the greatest and most important tools that we have to begin and continue improving our health. With the power of our minds we can create, change and achieve anything we wish to. Our minds direct the functions of our bodies both consciously and subconsciously and all we need do is take control, to know we are the ones in charge and then apply the greatest tool that we have to our advantage.

The very thing that is often missed is the importance of our mind in improving our health and that we have to start here for the best results.

For example; if we do not believe we can overcome something what are the chances of us doing so?

Not very likely is the honest answer, sadly this is where so many start out when beginning a goal to achieve their best health and then soon give up when not meeting their set expectations.

So how do we cultivate a strong enough belief and ensure we are using our mind to the best of our ability to achieve our health goals?

Here are a few top tips;

    1. Set yourself a goal that you know is possible in the short term – setting a short-term goal is a good way of building your belief system so to begin with focus on what you know you can achieve today and then the week and month. Before you know it you have then built to a larger goal and gained a new belief.
    2. Tell yourself it is possible – Whether we realise it or not we have for most of the time an ongoing internal dialogue. Are you are aware of what goes on with yours? One way of checking in is on how you are feeling? If you are feeling low then the chances are your internal dialogue is negative. If you’re feeling great then it’s likely positive. The great thing is that you are in complete control of this and in changing it for where you want to be. A great way to do this is through the use of affirmations.
    3. Visualise– Our bodies respond to what our minds perceive so when we focus within our own minds, our bodies will respond as if it were true. Visualise yourself being at your best and enjoying being healthy and do it so often that you will know it and believe it to be true.

These approaches are open to and subject to much scepticism but the best way to know as with anything is to apply it. Put it to the test and see the results for yourself.

5 reasons to love the gym

Since the first day I ever stepped in a gym I instantly loved it,  I also know however that this is not a very common response. Because many of you may struggle to get motivated for the gym, today I wanted to share with you some aspects of the gym that can help turn you in to a gym lover too. I hope these can inspire an improvement in motivation for any of you who may need it.

For each gym lover their reasons may slightly differ, but I know for sure that  when enough positivity is connected to the gym it is possible that absolutely anyone can fall in love with it.

Here are my top five reasons to why;

  1. Feel Great - Many of the goals you set for yourself can take a while to achieve, but with this one you can achieve each and every session. Without doubt if you put some effort in even for only a half an hour you will feel far better for it and ultimately what we all want is to feel great.
  2. Make great connections - The gym can also be a great place to meet people and socialise, especially with likeminded people who are focused on achieving their health and fitness goals. Many gyms also have social activities and gatherings too.
  3. All you need in one place - From great machines, to classes, music and PT's, you have all you need within the gym to motivate you, no excuses. All you have to do is get there. :)
  4. A positive environment - A gym is overall a very positive environment, everyone there is working towards a goal and motivated towards improving themselves and their health. A really great place to be to lift yourself up whenever you need to.
  5. Time for you - We can often spend much of our time doing stuff for others and being there for others, whether at work or at home, so to take time for ourselves is very important. What better way to do this than to work on improving your health and fitness and feeling great for it? :)
